Hellville Records was formed in 2008 with the desire to collaborate artistically with other like-
minded individuals who put art and personal integrity before profit or fame. With a decades-long resume of supporting underground and DIY media of all genres, our goal is to support those who resist corporate banality and mainstream media in favor of artistic independence and integrity. The premiere release on Hellville Records was In Search Of The Laconic Ideal by Ohio-based MEDUSA COMPLEX.
We are currently managing ICHABOD CRANE and we support the artistic vision and projects of MOCKINGBIRD. These Akron-based bands are worth your attention. Stay tuned for future releases from them.

Ichabod Crane is a character in Washington Irving’s “Legend of Sleepy Hollow,” described as superstitious, cruel and depraved. Ichabod is also an ancient Hebrew name that means inglorious or shameful (it was customary to call children derogatory names so they would be less appealing to demons). As a band, they formed in early 2006 and the current line-up came together at the end of 2008. They like to play dirty metal. They will be entering the studio at the end of May 2009 to produce a full-length release of new material. They will be touring the northeast in August 2009. This fable was birthed in the abandoned urban industrial wastelands of Ohio, in concrete bunkers and desert sand storms. It was born of guts and blood and lack of social privilege. Survival and self-preservation, camaraderie and the desire to create DIY art for art's sake, not for fame nor profit, was the motivation for all that followed. Against all odds, two came together and conspired and eventually two became three. Inspired by train-hopping and radical activism, by resistance to corporate greed, by love and love lost, by inner psychological battles and wars for oil, a new undefinable sound emerged from the ash heap in the dying days of the first decade of the 21st. century: MEDUSA COMPLEX.
And for a brief while, the fable was a reality. For audiences yearning for more that cookie-cutter tunes from wanna-be pop stars and metallic posers, this uber-talented trio of skilled musicians, lyricists and artists commingled their talents and birthed their first, and last, visionary cdep, In Search Of The Laconic Ideal, released by Hellville Records in May 2008.
MEDISA COMPLEX was an adventure, a labor of love, a leap of faith. In Search Of The Laconic Ideal was the first release on the Hellville Records label. The cdep consists of four songs of pain, loss and recovery, symphonic in nature and complexity, with uniquely intelligent lyrics and intricate song construction, that place MEDUSA COMPLEX in a category all their own. Perhaps too grindy for the metalheads, too down-tempo for the thrashers, too metal for the crust punks, the music of MEDUSA COMPLEX does not fit into a convenient box. Nor should it based on the philosophies and life experiences of its members.
F. Lee Harmon Jr., Mike Faucher and Chadd Beverlin have amassed an impressive resume of ground-breaking music in other projects. They each brought a unique outlook and vision to their collaboration which resulted in the cdep In Search Of The Laconic Ideal. MEDUSA COMPLEX
